I love my bride-to-be, but I have some serious issues with patience when taking someone new out on the water. Especially when they’re just learning to fly fish.
I’m working on getting better, but I’m definitely not a good teacher. Heck, I can hardly explain how I cast, strip, and mend a fly line, let alone teach others how it’s done. So we got off to a rough start the other day, but she tolerated me pretty well.
I watched, complained, commented, demonstrated, and annoyed her enough that she finally let me go upstream and fish on my own.
She caught a few snags, but stuck it out for two full hours, working on her cast.
I felt a little bad for abandoning the flycasting lessons, but the guilt went away after landing a few trout 🙂
